Arrival

We arrived in Rome at 7.30 am on Friday morning, one full day calendar wise from leaving home, time wise however it was over 30 hours of traveling. It took forever to get our bag then customs was merely walking through a door. A lovely man met us at the airport and drove us to our hotel in the heart of Rome. It's a really long drive and not terribly exciting. We slept most of our first day and through the night. I had a belly ache from the plane, Gareth looked after me and even ventured to buy food. Our room has huge windows which we left open all night, it looks out on to the backs of three dirty, old buildings which lots of crashes and bangs coming from ground level.
This is the building across from our hotel, most of the buildings in Rome are really old and beautiful. They strangely remind me of Jane Austen's England from the movies I've seen.

Our first morning in Rome we had breakfast at our hotel, Gareth was excited to discover they had cocoa pops. I was excited that they made me hot chocolate, I did however burn my tongue.
Note the cobbled streets, they are all over the place but some are asphalt (I can't work out reasoning behind which are and which aren't.) Note also the scooters, they are everywhere. People drive on the right hand side of the road which is very disconcerting. The roads are weird, some two laned, some one, be they one way or otherwise.

Singapore Goldfish

These are the crazy giant goldfish at Singapore Airport - don't ask me why they have goldfish, they also have a butterfly garden (which if you're lucky we will get photos of next time).
Singapore Airlines were great: lots of movies and food and added bonus was the girls were really pretty (I'm allowed to say that because I'm a girl).
What we did in Singapore (waiting to catch our flight to Rome):
Frances: slept on chairs
Gareth: smoked in crazy smoking rooms, hacked a terminal because he can.
We didn't leave the airport though we hope to go on a tour of Singapore next time (money pending) we did get to experience the crazy humid heat in one of the open air smoking rooms.

We are living in Broadbeach, two blocks from the beach, about 10 mins from Pacific Fair - the biggest mall in the Southern Hemisphere, which is across the road from Draculas. We walk on the beach every night, it's so beautiful.
We don't have the net or a camera yet but once we do we promise to make you all insanely jealous.

Australia

We are moving to Australia!

Gareth had his last day at work yesterday and leaves on Sunday, Frances will follow him in a fortnight.
We are currently residing at the Davies house in Lower Hutt which is piled high with not only our posessions but those of the Devery's too. Special thanks to Mat who came through when our movers didn't show all weekend (moving on a Sunday evening is not pleasant).

This is the main photo that our wonderful photographer Lily chose.
(She is linked just over there ---->)
She did an amazing job, even finding a red album and black box for the photos. The photo is washed out or toned down whatever the term is.
This was in the middle of the handfasting part of the ceremony, our left hands on each others hearts.

I was hoping people would pick their favourite picture to put up here and talk about what they remembered from the wedding because it's pretty much a blur to me. We got the wedding photos from Lily on Thursday so some of them will probably be coming up here soon.
This is my favourite photo of Gareth and me. Lily took a bunch of photos downstairs just before she had to leave.
